Enjoy the rain! Or send it to Central Victoria.

I know of only two ways guarranteed to chase away the clouds:

1: Voodoo- too dangerous, I've seen Lord of the Rings and know what can happen, :wink2::fight::scared2:

2: Sell ALL your astro gear- Imoral!:sad::scared::scared2:

The choice is yours.

Hey Mick :hi:
I have actually packed up all my stuff .... too cloudy, too damn hot and humid. Get it all out in another 2 months or so.
Luck of the draw with the weather.... you may pop out at midnight and find it clear .. keep trying. Good luck

Monitor the clouds, see how they roar!

You could always buy a thermal nuclear bomb kit from IRAN, put it together and lite it up. Those clouds will be gone in a FLASH.

Looking pretty clear Mick - check out Jupiter before it heads towards horizon, Orion neb,and Mars rises about 10pm (per Stellarium).

woohoo, finally got out there, on the driveway, and began the fun task setting it up. Got the legs levelled and then decided that as the clouds were rolling in I would just point and shoot rather than do an alignment. The scope was all the way out of focus and the pointer was not aligned either. Aligned the pointer using a tree and looking at the dark blob of foliage against the city glow, it worked! cool. Then went to look at Mars which was large and tempting earlier only to find that the clouds were back. grrr. Panned around to Canopus which was just about the only star without clouds and started twirling the focus knob. It was very cool going from a complete light blur in the eyepiece to a pinpoint star. Did final alignment on pointer and then looked for something else to see, hmmm, not much left that wasnt covered in cloud. Got a quick squizzie at Aldabarran and then packed up. All in all I am quite chuffed :-) and only a little disappointed at missing Mars. Canopus, my first star with my new scope. very :D

Good on ya Mick ....... Hard work always pays off. I too got up early to check Saturn but the clouds came rolling in . ohh well there is always tommorow. Have fun with your new scope.

Alex.

You COULD try praying or swearing, but I haven't had much success with those methods. Packing it all up works almost every time though.

Take up weather-watching and storm chasing as well as astronomy. That should give the Cloud Gods an appropriate dilemma!:P

...and if it doesn't, no matter what the clouds are doing you'll have something to do.:)
