I managed to get 2hrs in last night before the moon spoilt the view, to add to the 70mins I had from the other night. I am still struggling with the field rotation or poor flattener spacing, but next full moon I will try to sort it.

7x10min & 8x15mins(dithered)-3hrs10mins total
Flat & Bias frames in DSS
Megrez 110 & QHY8, Nebulosity2
Guided ST80 and DSI Pro II in PHD
EQ6 and EQMOD
Photoshop CS3

Thanks for looking!:D

That is a beautiful image. With such long exposures how do you not blow out the big star above the flame nebula. I have data taken at 0 degrees each being 8 min but every time I stretch the data the star blows out hugely.

Nice image, though theres a green hue though the stars/background that i can see other than that not bad.

Thanks.
I'll check it again and back the green off a bit for you, however, you may want to calibrate/re-calibrate your monitor.:)

Thankyou very much.
I think it is a combination of scope, camera and UV/IR filter type/placement in the imaging train. Other than that, I am not doing anything different.:D

My monitor is just fine :) 19" Dell Ultrasharp that has a Spyder 3 attached to it permanently. i could take it a step further and sit in the room with the walls painted specially for colour calibration and printing?

Thanks, Marc! It is only my second ever attempt at Mr Ed, so I'm pretty happy. Cheers and clears!!:D

Great rendition of the HH Gray. You seem to be mastering the QHY.

Did you find the regime in capture and processing to be a much more difficult learning curve than with the 40D ??

Thank you for your comments, guys!
I'm not having too much trouble with the QHY8 procedures as I've mucked around quite a bit with LRGB, which gives you a good starting point, learning to stretch, layer and combine etc. What I am having trouble with is the larger field of view and flattener positioning and/or field rotation. It is driving me nuts!!:mad2:

Just a note on this image. One of my Society collegues has noted that with the great treatment of Alnitak, I seem to have imaged its 9.5mag companion. My software does not show its position or even that it is there, but I guess it is the small star at 9 o'clock to Alnitak.

Just looking at the image theres alot of secondary dots on the major stars. but if you have thats a good capture.

Could it be the spacing between the flattener and CCD?

I think it is. Tonight, I tossed away everything to do with the correct spacing and went to an off the wall scenario. I have reduced the spacing to about 21mm and although results still aren't great, I have a result. I'll keep chipping away!

Very nice Graham, You have managed Alnitak very well. It's a bugger and need to be switchable for imaging.

Thanks for your comments, Doug!
Lol! Would that be Meade Lightswitch Technology?:rofl::lol:
