Here are my last two shots from Wiruna last new moon week-end.

Tarantula (http://www.multiweb.com.au/astro/HS3_NGC2070_f.jpg) RGB is 20x120s - C11/Hyperstar 3
NGC2264 (http://www.multiweb.com.au/astro/HS3_NGC2264_cf.jpg) RGB is approx. 10x180s - C11/Hyperstar 3

I lost about 75% of subs on the Xmas tree neb area due to the breeze problem I had with the dewshield and obviously it had to be the faintest one of the lot. :P Oh well, I'll revisit it next new moon.

Hope you had all a relaxing break. Just got back from 6 days in nowra and surrounding beaches . Nicely toasted both sides.

Both are nice Marc, But I must say Im rather fond of the 2070 shot.. The christmas tree is a target you dont often see.. It would probably benefit greatly from a hour or so worth of Ha... Give you something to do during full moon anyway! :)

Nice Mark. Seems like you're getting in the groove with the hyperstar now! Its a bummer when thinks don't quite work out to plan, but you've got good data there to add too all right.

Is it just me, or does the XMAS tree on its side look like a giant, pink Wrasse about to nibble on some coral...!?
 :screwy:

Thanks Trev.

Thanks Alex. Yeah I lost a lot of data on the Xmas tree. I'm gonna hammer it mid january. No filters, no prisoners... and 5-10min subs this time. ;)

:eyepop: Ha...Rob we're clearly not drinking the same thing ;) But your comments got me thinking. :confuse3: You're absolutely right. I had the framing and picture orientation wrong. Check the repro below. Those Ha branches popped right out now!

Marc,

The images that you are getting with the C11 and hyperstar are fabulous.

I must say that I am a little suprised at size of the fov of the tarantula.

It is great work. I love it.

:P

Thanks guys. Yeah, give me clear skies, no moon and I will :P
That was the last batch from a month ago. First light (sort of).
The red in the tarantula shot?... :confuse3:yeah, I think I have discovered a new Ha region next to the spider. That or some liquid splash :drink:on my corrector plate....... I'll have to get back to you on that one Mike. ;)

He'll have to wait for winter to get that many subs in one night, with that super fast system astronomical twilight to astronomical twilight would be best (ie completely dark) and that is currently only about 6hrs or 72 X 5min subs

Promising images there Marc. Great FOV from the setup. Some great detail showing despite the relatively short exposures.

It has really got me thinking about a Hyperstar setup for my C8. Will watch your progress with interest.

Not a worry. I have a time dilation device :computer::drink:from the CERN that allows me to shoot 10x5min subs in 2min.

With your Canon EOS resolution you'll get an amazing field and the hyperstar systems are quite affordable for the C8s.

Nice images with some real potential. I would also love to see the result of some longer exposures, should be very pleasing.

Thanks Gray. Yeah the FOV is pretty big and corrected. Should be real cool to make mosaics. :)

Thanks Doug. I'm definitely going to try that next new moon weather permitting mid-january.

Thanks Jen - glad you like it. Cool avatar. Looks like you slimmed down again over Xmas. Just reminded me I piled up 3.5kg in 6 days  But is was good though. The chocolates were worth it.

I am going to be critical here on one point, framing your picture.

I cant comment on anything else, as I aren't as accomplished as Marc in those areas, but I do always try for the best raw framing i can.

But with only 120 and 180 second exposures, you have plenty of time to get pictures centered better.

:P

ahh... touche! Well, Trev you already know my legendary polar alignment, how do you expect me to understand big words like framing? ;)

We cant make you better by stroking your ego, though it does always feel good for a time.:D

I thought your legendary polar alignment got "better" when you visited paid a visit to the The Dark Side. Those "MAS evil doers" in the Belanglo Forest have tainted you and taken your soul.:lol:

MAS dark site is awesome. Looks like a golf course green. Almost too good to walk with your shoes on.

Ego? What Ego? I'm a married man. All I know is pain and how to buy jewellery.
