Hi guys, hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, my first shots of the moon

I did try Jupiter but still learning and havent got any decent shots of Jupiter yet, so just waiting on a cheap webcam I ordered to come so I can hook it up:D:D.

Anyway, here are 3 pics I would have loved to have posted them all but I guess I'll save them for facebook:rofl:Hope you guys like these as I did my back last night getting the telescope out, I pulled something. I will surely invest in a trolley of some sort so I can cart it in and out without injury.

I've have to stay indoors tonight and I'm admiring whats in the sky through skyglobe:sadeyes::sadeyes::sadeyes: its just not the same.

Anyway, hopefully I get this right, so the pic's were taken using the Afocal method, if that is the correct term.

I used a canon ixus 14.7MP, pointed it into a 25mm EP with a moon filter on an 8' GSO Dob last night about 22.30 I think, may have been later, can't remember as I was in so much pain, trying to keep the camera steady and breathing through the back pain:(. I changed the settings on the camera to macro and set the ISO high and used the 10sec self timer. I put them on PSD to crop and frame:lol:

Oh and Mental if you pass by, I've not yet purchased my 30mm superview EP, waiting on a client to pay up for the year so I can get some more goodies for 2010, I hope that your mod's are coming along superbly....cheers everyone

Have a happy and safe New Years everybody and lots of fantastic seeing nights for 2010:party2: forgot to mention these were taken on the 28/12/2009

Hi June.
Sorry to hear you hurt yourself. A trolley is a great idea. I put one together for my 12", made life so much simpler when it was time to move the scope. Heres a link to some pics of my trolley

Hi Malcolm,

Thank you so much for that, I'll be heading off to buy one of these tomorrow, had I been smart about it, I should have taken the tube off the mount first.:screwy::screwy::screwy: instead of carrying the whole thing out...too eager

Well, I wont be doing that again and I will certainly invest in a trolley....cheers and have a Happy and safe New Year.

Nice shot's ! A little work on focus and having the camera square to the Eye piece and things will improve. Keep it up.

Thank you for the feedback Dave, fantastic and I will keep at it, I had such a ball out there, I'm going to invest in a trolley so I don't miss any more nights to get out there and explore.

You have a fantastic, happy and safe New Year...cheers

Hi June,
Beaut first images!!
May I suggest....
Drop your ISO right down, iso100, 200 at the most. Set the exposure for around 180th of a sec. Play around with exposure times, depending on the phase it will be shorter or longer.
If you have Paint Shop, use the "Clarify" tool to increase your contrast.
