Mossy Logs Over Marian

A peek through the wildnerness in the forest surrounding Marian Creek reveals these randomly fallen moss-covered logs whilst beautiful and gentle diffuse light bathes the scene on an overcast morning.

Triple processed RAW for detail in foliage and glacial highlights in the stream.

2s f/22.0 at 33.0mm iso100

That is absolutely sickening! Is that river running down hill away from you? My eyes automatically seek for the first reference point in the image for orientation, that is distictly the fern to the top 1/3 left 1/3. The angle of the fern indicates to my brain that the slope is extremly steep the lying logs refute that though. On closer inspection, the fern is dead isn't? Laying to an angle.

Did you selectively include it the "throw" persection or is it just a interesting after fact? To me that fern makes the image. Freaky freaky stuff.. That deserves to be in an exibition, for people to examine, i'm not sure if all appreaciate such details on the interwebs.

You're right, the water does slope away down hill. The water flows so fast, it's amazing. I'd hate to fall in there. Eek.

Perhaps the perspective is an effect that was achieved subconsciously. It's not something I was thinking about, but, I was thinking about the composition -- getting enough light and dark into the scene. Seems to have worked.

Also, try searching for "Marian", and, not "Marion". You brought it to my attention and so I fixed my spelling error.

Impressive. What else can I say!

This image is great. Colours are very well set in this image. Gives me the feeling of Autumn and spring at the same time.

One thing that strikes me most is your capture of the river. It sort of gives this image a 2 location perspective. E.g On top of a secluded cliff with fog running between and low in the valley between a fast running river.

I'm glad you enjoyed the image and it made you reflect on what you're observing.

I try to get it right in camera when shooting, but, with scenes like these, trying to capture movement in water often means blowing highlight detail in the foliage. By blending several exposures, or even double-processing the single exposure, means I can maintain an overall equilibrium.

It would be amazing to visit somewhere like Pandora. Almost makes me want to get back into 3D modeling and animation!
