There are probably a few more non-stellar items in this huge 4deg x 4deg FOV, but those in the title are the main objects.

So here is the next STX image, but Ha only to demonstrate the camera's response given its 20% increase in efficiency at 656nm over the STL. 15 minute subs were used for a total of 4 hours exposure. The 65mm Baader Ha filter has a bandpass of 7nm.

Doesn't the 16803 chip have a great FOV! I have enjoyed my 16803 chip for 2 years now and have been pleased with it's QE, even for narrowband.

Nice image Martin. Keep them coming. The STX is a little too late and expensive for me but it looks like it will be a great camera.

Tom - the STX is certainly late and as you say expensive - SBIG updated their price list on 24 Dec, so the camera and CFW will knock you back $13,670 and if you opt for Baader filters, that will add a further $1164 for the LRGBHa set or a further $2750 if you opt for Astrodon filters.

I like it enough though to sell my FLI Proline 16803/CFW5-7/7 filter set to finance it, even though its only had a few weeks use, literally.

Looking at your incredible images Martin has made me pretty anxious..... to get a ProLine16803 and CFW-5-7 with a whole set of Astronomik low reflection filters :clap: :lol: ....couldn't afford an SBIG and those large Astrodons ;)

Surely SBIG will let you keep that camera :shrug:...they bluudy well should :screwy:, you are giving them great press mate :thumbsup:..they have a bit of ground to make up against FLI now :P

I was kind of hoping they would make me a gift of it I can tell you! But they havent; I mean, just look at the price of it - even though I would fall on my sword for one, even I can see that they are not at liberty to give away almost US$15,000 of kit.

The FLI package I have is going to be an absolute steal - its even the modified version where the CFW5-7 is now actually bolted to the camera. Are you interested big man? If so, keep yer eye on the classifieds any day now.

A set of filters would also be helpful (Baaders)... but that won't happen until January.
