Hey guys,
Just wondering what sort of christmas traditions go on over the place.
I just took the little boy out to the backyard to put out some stuff for the reindeer, straw and some water, but when i was little we would put out carrots and water.
We are also leaving for Santa some milk and biscuits. But when i was a kid it was beer and biscuits.
Merry Christmas!!!!!!

Our daughter left out a plates of carrots and nibblies.
Christmas lunch will be cold meats and salads. Dinner will be a bbq. Rarely do we do anything remotely like a Northern Hemisphere traditional meals.
Most of the day will be spent on the back porch relaxing.

Today was supposed to be at SWMBO's niece's place so the under 3s could play outside. With Sydney having storms predicted, last night it was moved to sister-in-law's place. Lunch will be around 16:00
My grown-up children are up at Anna Bay with their mother's family.
We're spending a quiet morning with some CDs on the player and the crossword.
And wishing everyone a safe and joyful Solstice Celebration.

We did the carrots, water, etc. bit.
Now waiting for the turkey to cook, we do it every year.
Cheers
Stuart
Merry solstice and a happy revolution around Sol.

We used to make fake Reindeer poo (out of mud...we also put carrot peelings in them as well) and put it in the yard...aka Snata's little helpers used to leave their calling cards....just for a joke to show the kids...Santa's been here.
Kids used to say..."those Reindeer are disgusting"!
Well we thought it was funny and got one back on the kids...a mad tradition indeed!

What does reindeer poo look like? Halfway between cow pats and sheep pellets

we did the carrots and lettuce job, but always left a nice glass of Sherry outside to refresh Santa:P
New Year was even more bizarre. I as a ten year old and the youngest would be shoved out of the back door with a piece of coal in my hand, then have to race round to the front door and when I heard Big Ben strike midnight on the radio, would knock loudly and be let in, clutching this horrible bit of coal. Anybody know what that was to signify?? Warmth? wealth??
I think being black it signified night time??:eyepop:
