Snapped this shot at Terrigal on Sunday night while having dinner on the beach with my family.

I noticed a pelican on a power pole and thought it would make a nice image with the moon as a backdrop.

He was picking at his feathers and looking around. I started taking a few shots and then he spread his wings and was posing. We were watching for about 10 mins and he enjoyed the attention. What a showoff. :rolleyes:

In the last few weeks Ive learnt what a Blue Moon is, a Harvest Moon is and now a Pelican Moon.

Great shot!

Would look nice if you took 2 exposures (1 for the moon and 1 for the pelican) and made a composite!

you know if the moon were just a tad lower it would make a great halo for the pelican! :)

I didn't even think of that David, I was in such a hurry to get the shot cos' I was worried it would fly away.
