Went down to the house last night with some mates to image, view and just watch the geminids. There were some great meteors and one really great fire ball.

I took 56 frames at 4 minutes to capture the event and I put my observatory in the foreground.

Very nice Paul, love star trail images and this one is most effective, especially with your observatory in the foreground.

Wow, there's just a few stars trailing there!

I quite like the overall feel. It's good how the observatory is nice and sharp, and you have the blue reflecting off the roof etc. Nice colours overall :)

Paul,

i think you will have to go through all of the frames and find the ones with the meteors in them then reblend them back into the original image somehow. the star trails have overlaid the earlier data collected on some of the earlier meteor trails. Nice shot and i like the composition, man that must be a dark site! what was the gap you used between shots - i have tried to get 1 second or two but with no success - had to be three.

Thanks all,

Dave, using the D3 I can get less than a second between shots. It downloads very quickly and opens the shutter nearly at the same time.
