New build

OK after selling my GSO 6" eq I looked around at the light bridge 12 and the sky watcher 12 dobs and am not overly keen for the money. so I am thinking about building a 13.5 scope using a deep sky optics primary and Gary Mitchell aluminium tube with a Gso two inch focus.
Now for the dob base:
I want to build a modern base that is lite and tidy. Ive looked on line for dob plans but most are out of the 60s-70s. They are clunky looking and not at all pleasing to the eye. Anyone have an idea on something a bit more modern looking??

Have a look through this site. It is a cornucopia of ATM work: DIY, suppliers, history, etc.. You are sure to get ideas from here for the entire scope. I've used it extensively, picking up ideas from here and lifting that to come up with my own hybrid:

The teleport dobs have me intrigued - very compact design. A lot of work has gone inti getting these 'just right' so copying won't be easy, but much food for thought nonetheless.
