Couple more WO FD shots

Hi all

Got the guiding up and running for the EQ6 now, here's a couple from last night, despite the near full moon. Both are 10 mins single frames through the Megrez 80 II FD/ART-285, guided with the Megrez 80 II semi/SC3, then messed a very little in PSP7. NGC6946 is the home of the supernova sn2004et - something I know you people in Australia will *not* be looking at :P

Way to go! now if you can get that without a Ha filter, it would indeed be impressive with it!

Thanks, I've just dropped a skyglow filter and an IR block in there - as well as re-arranging the scopes on the mount to make the guidescope more solid. Tonight will tell, looking like it may be sort-of clear here.

With that image you would have been able to spot S/N2004et quite easely,Do you check all your galaxy shots for S/N?.astron

No, as a rule I don't look for sn in my pix, but the QCUIAG group have been chasing this one (and I have added the odd measurement myself) but sometimes when you are doing "proper" astronomy you forget to sit back and look at the wider view :lol: Hence this pic.

Just re-shot the NGC6995 last night - much better but still the Moon is a pain. Got an Orion Skyglow filter in the chain now. Big improvement I think. So - 5 x 2 min subs binned 2x2. Lost a bit in the compression though :(

thanks H0ughy, I have an OIII I am going to try tonight (weather permitting) and see what comes of it. Should be wicked :wink2: What I really need is an Ha but can't stretch to one just yet. It's all a learning curve I guess, new mount, new scope, new camera. Pity no new moon!! At least I have the guiding sorted now.

thanks :) the tracking is down to GuideDog I'm afraid, nice though - I like the fire it and forget it setup!

Anyway, that shot I mentioned in OIII can be seen at http:\\myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ambermile/final-lion.jpg (it's a 640KB jpg) 3 x 10 min subs. I did not process this one so harshly as I wanted to keep it more natural. I like this the best but now it's time to point somewhere else for a change! Think I want to get the reducer of as well and try some f/7 shots. Maybe M1, M33, that sort of thing. Looks good for tonight...
