Interesting set of filters, the Topaz offerings. Here's a set of three quick rendition via the "Clean2" filter. Different!

Hi Chris

These would look fantastic, printed and framed as a triptych above the mantel piece!

Cheers

Love those expressive eyes on the PUG along with the bemused look on his face! Nicely composed too, by the way.

Cheers

Hi Chris,

Fabulous! Really like these.

Print them on canvas and frame them and visitors would think you must have painted
them.

Best Regards

Thanks everyone! :) I'm having some fun with it here tonight. Don't know how many I'd actually want to do, but a few is fun.

Here's Chops, Bongo's wife.

Like the last one best.

Reminds me of the Fractilius plugin (http://www.redfieldplugins.com/filterFractalius.htm) for Photoshop.

Could you post the original image too, pretty please.

First thing that came to my mind Van Gogh - but then one my favorite paintings is Starry Night,.

Also his quote 1888 is pretty cool "It often seems to me that the night is much more alive and richly colored than the day" although Im not sure he is talking about the night sky ;)

Hey Chris liked 'em all although the last one lacked the impact of the others

Chris,

It appears as though your camera dropped a tab of acid. :P

Whoa! An amazing effect for sure. Everything looks frozen, as though ice is creeping along every surface and taking the definition from everything.

Van Gogh eat your heart out!

Love the puggies! Is that a reflection of you in Chops' left eye?

Kerrie :)

Cheers guys! :)

Carl - the Topaz "Clean 2" plugin is US$29.99 http://www.topazlabs.com/clean/ and the full bundle is US$179.

I've operating on trial limitations but will buy the full bundle I think. Great for all sorts of things, both terrestrial and astro.

Hi 33South,

The filter does certainly give that warm impressionist feel to Chris's photos.

With regards Starry Night, If you have not had the opportunity to see the original
painting, I hope you get to do so. i saw it several years ago in the Museum of
Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and it is breathtaking. Even when one corrects
for the bias that comes through it being an instantly recognizable and iconic work of
art, like others, I was instantly drawn to it and would continue on through the gallery
only to keep coming back to view it again and again. The paint of course
is so three dimensional and textured on the original which is an important
attribute when viewing it.

There is an exhibition currently in Canberra at the National Gallery that includes
some Van Gogh's.

I know Chris is a keen astrophotographer so I would be keen to see the filter
applied to an image of the night sky including the Moon in what might be
Chris's Starry Night.

Anyway, looks like a fun filter!

I've a print of Starry Night in my lounge room.
It is reminiscent of Chris's pics isn't it.

That is fascinating Chris. Lovely effect. Do you do requests? :)

Landscapes certainly work really well don't they?
One comes to mind that might look great...Adam's Arkaroola
view in his thread http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=53320

As long as he doesn't mind. It has been my background for a week
or so. I love anything Flinders Ranges. Worth a try maybe?

Thanks guys :)

All good fun, but not something you'd produce too often. I'd say that there could possibly be an audience for prints at a local market maybe... Some people really like stuff like this on their walls.:)

ving
15-12-2009, 02:22 PM
maybe chris... you thinking of doing it? cheryl is thinking of having a market stall (maybe at appin) for her hand made jewellry... depending on when you want to do it maybe we can combine the stall and pay halves? just an idea, i havent run it by cheryl yet...

Great effect Chris, Im sure everyone has a picture that would benefit from the "Clean2" and be an adornment for a wall.

Just on the Chops picture .. looks like shes just figured out that Bongo has got the last bone again !!!!
