I just happened to look at a thermometer on the side of my verandah and saw that it read 48 degrees celcius. OK, this was in the sun at the time and it's 1.30 p.m. So I took it into the shade where it settled into a comfortable 42. Gawp!! This is SE Qld, not Tibooburra or Birdsville. And all the indications are that this is something to which we need to grow accustomed.

Peeing with rain and 17 here, but that'll change.
I feel for you. Over 35C and I sit in the bath with my head under water and a snorkle until it drops.
Stay hydrated!

Just another beautiful Melbourne summer day here, freezing cold, rain and overcast :mad2: :mad2: 15C atm, which is about normal for summer here  Summer took a catastrophic collapse here after the wonderful weather of November.

You guys in the north dont know how good you've got it.

I drove through Armidale this morning, driving home to Qld, and saw, just north of Guyra, a road sign saying "New England Highway Closed; Snow on Road". Somehow, I just couldn't take it seriously.

Officially 40 degrees here, thermometer says 49 in the sun and its a cool 45 in my workshop. The cold water fountain is struggling, the soft drink machine is broken the fans are blowing hot air and the aircon in the workshop is doing nothing, and I have just finished my last of 3 X 1.5 litre bottles of water. Looking forward to going home.

Very cute.
In 2006 we did have snow in November. It started about 9:30 in the morning. The kids at school all went outside and played in it as it fell.
Not enough to close the highway though.

no summers, constant cloud year round, DSE burnoffs (damn them), 1 clear night every 6 months, coldest and cloudiest place in Australia, last stop to Antarctica...

Careful what you wish for mate.....be veeery very VERY careful :sadeyes::(:(:mad2::mad2: :help::help:
I'd be moving to the tropics or the desert in a flash if I had the capacity to....to the hell with the constant winters and cloud down here in the sub antarctic roaring 40's :mad2:

Today was unbeliebable in west sydney. Nice breeze. I had the whole house open all day to let the fresh air in and not once did I use the air-con. Beautiful. Yesterday and the day before were a shocker though. We got in the 38c - 41c on the sensor under the veranda. :eyepop:

Yep its hot,
Our AC business is receiving around 60 to 80 calls everyday. We are turning away 5 out of 6 jobs.
Upto mid November we were receiving only 5 to 6 a day, so a ten fold increase :eyepop: in 2 weeks. Problem now is we don't have the staff to handle it and are booked till mid January. Myself and 3 other installers are busting our backsides doing 8 to 10 installs a day in this heat.:mad2:
As usual 90% of punters leave it till now.
Smart ones get them in during winter and get good cash backs from various manufactures and cheaper installs.
I love winter, clear skies and 1 to 2 days off during the week to get into my astro addiction, then work hard all summer to pay for more toys:lol:.

29 here in Auckland yesterday. Just perfect.
I'm sure you guys are used to it, but those 35-45's you battle with is just way too much for me. But then I'm originally from Denmark so am used to slightly more temperate conditions :)

I am with you JJJnettie you can always dress up like the Michelin Man. Before I go on I apologise for the image presented next but I prefer the cold over the hot because when it is hot you can only take off so many clothes before you cant take anymore off.:P

I was questioning that myself yesterday Al.
It's only been in the last few years that I find it affects me this way, since I got, you know, sick. :(

When I win lotto, I'll have my property in Tassie for Summer and another up here for Winter. :D
Wouldn't that be grand. Best of both worlds.

 I'm the other way around now. When it gets really hot you can always cool down in the water or drink more. Back home in the mountains we had typically -23c at night, maybe around 1-2c midday. The air was dry but I don't like cold anymore. You still drink though to keep you warm but not the same stuff. So hot or cold somethings never change :)

Extremes either way are insufferable Marc.
I solved my problem this morning. Bought the kids and myself a small swimming pool. More a lounging pool, it's 3.6 x .76 .:D

multiweb
10-12-2009, 12:11 PM
Kids pool is the best. I spent more time in it than the kids when they were little  I have a mate who just came back from a business trip in Darwin. He reckons it was very hard to put up with humidity just walking outside. May be hot or cold doesn't matter that much but 90% humidity is a killer either way.

My twin brother lives in
Jasper, Alberta. He sent me a picture of himself yesterday, skiing up to the post office in minus 35 degrees. I sent him one back, of me, languishing in PLUS 35 degrees:D

i agree with you, JJJ. Cant bear the heat. A month ago we went to Tassie for an exploration (possible retirement) trip. We decided, thats the place for us. If this heat continues,we may go sooner rather than later.
It's 34.5 degrees, noon at Burpengary today, Thursday AAAGGGHHHH:(

Phew!!:eyepop: We only have a balmy 31.8°C indoors as I write.

Hope you’re holding it together – I can now appreciate the statement “going troppo” much more!;)
