Hi All,

I acquired some more Ha data and some SII data for the Tarantula.

I added them together using the Hubble palette, LRGB mapped to Ha:SII:Ha:OIII.

I reduced the star halos which I typically get when combining the data this way and tweaked and tweaked it in PS.

Although this is probably not the last version of this object, I like it the way it is.

Taken with my 8" RC, SBIG ST-10XME, over two nights (2&3/12/2009).
Ha is a combination of 120 minutes through a 4.5nm filter and 100 minutes through a 13nm filter. OIII is 60 minutes through a 13nm filter and SII 60 minutes through a 13nm filter, binned 2x2. All sub-exposures were 10 minutes.

Cheers
Stuart

Nice shot Stuart. The detail is very good and another shinning example of what the GSO RC's can do.

Very nice Stuart.
Only thing that puts me off a bit is its not centred.

Great detail Stuart, Almost has a ghostly appearance about it. Must try some NB when the sky finally clears.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the positive feedback.

Thanks Mike for an IOTW as well. Last time I did that someone discovered a big black blob on Jupiter. Must go home and setup the planetary scope!!

Cheers

Congrats on the IOTW Stuart. Well deserved. I prefer more confident colour, but the subtly of the pastel hues appears to suit the scene incredibly well. Top work.
