Hi All,
just wanted to introduce myself.

I've been keen on the moon and stars for sometime and due to a small windfall from my wife being made redundant, I've been allowed to purchase a telescope as a combined fathers day, xmas, birthday present.

So I've go myself a Celestron Nexstar 6SE and a bunce of accessories.

If your interested in these:-

battery tank
32mm camera projection eyepiece
nikon t-ring (I have a Nikon D70 which I plan to strap in)
Celestron piggyback mount for the camera
9.5mm ED eyepiece
ND filter
and an eyepiece storage case
So the big question at home is now, does my wife let me crack open the box tonight or do I have to wait till Xmas?
(BTW she is conducting a facebook poll amongst our friends to determine the outcome) :)

I'd like to give a big shout of thanks to Anthony at York Optical Brookvale and Michael at York Optical - Sydney CBD in helping with this purchase. Great service and very good price (used their xmas laybuy option).

As I plan to use the Nikon D70 with this telescope, I'll start with some moon and planet shots and upload them once I get them done.

Anyhow thanks for all the posts that people have made in these forums, it has been very interesting reading.

Happy holidays everyone
(can't quite bring myself to sign off 'clear skies' yet) ;)

Since your warranty period has started, it is only fair that you should put it all together and make sure it works. Three weeks of testing sounds about enough. You might also run into the "I need just one other bit" problem, and you wouldn't want Xmas spoilt by not having it and the shops being closed.

SWMBO permitted me to buy a scope for my birthday last year. By the time it arrived, birthday was passed,so I didn't have to justify opening the boxes. It's all the other boxes since then that had to be justified.
