View Full Version here: : Mars, Dec 2
Hi All, here is a Mars image in relatively poor seeing. Excuse the limb artifacts, the image was not at all steady while capturing this morning.
This image is IR-G-B, 2 minutes per channel, stacked the best 1500 frames in each channel.

Nice job Anthony, I reckon using the IR image for a IR G B is the go for a colour image at the moment while it is relatively low.
Paul Maxon posted an RGB from Dec 2nd on the marsobservers group that is a rip snorter but for him Mars is about 60 degrees altitude.
I loaded this image of yours into WinJUPOS to measure the positions of the detail that is visible and you definitely have Olympus Mons which is a top effort, especially with the green and blue channels diluting the finer detail.
There looks to be some cloud coming off of the NPC, in my IR image from the previous, day this haze looked like it might be dust but in your colour image it does have a much lighter colour, more like a cloud of material blown from the NPC.
Imagine just how much improvement there will be in image quality toward the end of January when we have the opportunity to image Mars at opposition reaching 37 degrees alt by 3:30 am CSST.
Well done with this image, the extra definition of the detail with the heavier processing is worth the accentuated artifact on the limb, at least in my opinion.
