Hi all This is my first image post on Ice and Space. Taken with QHY8 and a Takahashi FS102 at F6 7x5mins and 2x 10mins. Processed in Maximdl 5 and CS3.

Looks nice. The most dust I have seen of this object.

Welcome to IIS. Very nice. There is plenty of detail and nice contrast in the fainter outer reaches and lots of dust captured. Good colour balance too. The core is burnt out a little but it looks like you did try to layer some shorter exposures. Good to see an FS-102 image - do you find you get a tiny bit of blue colour on bright stars?

Thanks, This is the first time I have really had a go at M42 I live near a major shopping center so it is a challenge to take long exposure to bring out faint dust. My processing skills are not great as you can tell by the blown out core. With the Tak I Have noticed that the bright stars are a little blue but I don't mind it so much.

Damn - I just read through this and looked at the image and a light went on (the rotation threw me) . Checked my email archives and the signifigance of the user name hit me in conjunction with the shopping centre comment. I am a bit slow some times.

Welcome big fella - i'd compliment the image but i've already done that and dont want to give you a big head  - Nah I will - it is still a nice image mate.

Knock our socks off mate and post some more

Hi there Mr Bolton its all Peters fault he suggested posting it. I have tweak it a little since you saw it and yes I have rotated it because every body complained that it was around the wrong way.

Cheers

Mr Germ,

Not a bad image at all. It has a great clarity.

Hi bluescope, I don't mind at all there is always room for improvement. I like that the background is a little darker what did you do.
