Had my first go at imaging. I used the article in the projects section here on Iceinspace (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/63-431-0-0-1-0.html) to mod an old quickcam i had lying in a box in the shed. I took it out last night and attached it to my celestron 9.25 SCR and came up with these pictures. I'm undecieded as to what camera to get in the future and will play around a bit first. Now the pics.

I imaged Clavius as an avi and fed it through registrax bit of a mystery those wavelets. I then tried to get a decent shot of Jupiter but seeing was not the best and everything was waving like a tree in the breeze.

My final pic is a bit different this is just an Iphone held up to the business end of my 10" skywatcher dob.

any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Paul,
Clavius looks good (not overdone with the wavelets:lol: )
Jupiter shows some promise but something is odd as it looks a bit squished, maybe resized in only one dimension?? And also (I'm guessing) under exposed and brightened in post processing?? In any case it needs a fuller histogram probably through longer exposure, more gain, or more brightness in the camera settings. It may also benefit from the use of a Barlow
It is getting harder to get good data on Jupiter as it slips Westward.
Camera Pic. What can you say? these are getting better all the time:rofl:

Terrific work.
My advice is to just keep on practising. The more images you take, the better you'll get.

Thanks for all the comments, Ive been working nights for the last week so no chance to add to the pics. But then again Peth has been covered in haze/smoke a lot of the time. I do have some other avis to process yet and i will post the results when i finish. I also picked up a Celestron Neximage for cheap off ebay, as it should be more sesitive than rhe junker i have been using. I have read a good article that suggested for my setup the addition of a flip mirror and in line focuser would improve the ease and quality of the result. What does anyone else think? ie. C9.25 - Crayford - Flip Mirror - CCD

Just got back in with the first pics of the night. Quick run through Registrax 5 this is the C9.25 with 2X Barlow (F20) with the new Neximage. Seeing was predictably bad and i snapped a few of jupiter before some clouds moved in. This is a first run My best to date but still far below that that i see elsewhere on the site. (still gotta start somehere!) I think the image could still be processed better but still learning to drive it.
