Supernova - beyond the bounds of science fiction?

Yep I'm watching it. And shaking my head in bemusement. :lol: :P

I don't think I've seen a science fiction movie in years that flouted so many astronomical and physics principles. I don't think farcical is too strong a word. But I am going to watch it to the end :P:D

What others should we add to the list?

I took a look at the "star" line up, saw Luke Perry in it, and decided not to watch it.

These things got me.

First the title is incorrect. The Sun does not have the mass to supernova. This was confirmed during the film when they said that the Sun would expand and eventually consume all the planets in the solar system. Nothing was said about the Sun exploding. You would think someone would actually check the terms used.

Second, some of the film is supposed to be set in Australia. The Australian accents are pathetic, all the cars have californian license plates and apparently we have the death sentence here. Not to mention that we have these really excellent observatories in the desert or fantastic mountain ranges to use as back drops. Nor the fact that we drive on the right side of the road. Yanks that are totally egocentric wrote the script.

Third, I don't think plasma would act or react as that shown in the "film". Causing craters, and splitting up to act like meteors.

Fourth, apparently the secret service organisations of America have jurisdiction in this country. They can detain who they like. Also their helicopters are the very aged fleet of Iraquois.

This film was total garbage, although I have to say that Luke Perry, did put in a reasonable performance. He was certainly better that the rest of the cast. That, is pretty sad when he gives the best performance.

It was another fine example of the level of sophistication exhibited by what one would loosely call the the dominant species in a certain North American Continent.Their news is of the same high quality.I was in Chicago just after 7/11
ok 9/11 and the newsreaders on Fox were advocating the Nuking of 'The Bad Guys' and then went on to name them without any evidence.It is like giving a submachine gun to a toddler who is angry!I will stop now.

probably cars are cheaper to trash with californian numberplates. anyway who cares, they were all fried anyway. poor script. poor special effects, poor acting, poor scenery, poor us we watched it :lol: :lol:
