First serious attempt at the horse and flame, still need to figure out Deep sky stacker and all its options as it seems to process images and sap the colour out of them http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/../vbiis/images/smilies/shrugging.gif

Here are the stats for this shot and first attempt at processing:

9 x 10Min subs, ISO800
Darks, Flat Field and Bias frames used
Taken using a WO FLT-132 and 50D

any hints on processing would be great :)

PS: what is it with satellites and the Orion region?!

Grahame.

Nice shot and plenty of detail - but I think its way too dark for some reason? Not sure why?? You can see that the stars are tight and the detail in the nebulas is excellent but there isnt the saturation you would expect from long subs etc.

Nice clean image of the HH Neb. Not being a user of DSS i can't help you with this side of things but the colour can be lifted using a curves stretch of the individual colours in PShop. A lift of the colour saturation may also help.

Adjusted in PS CS3 using shadow/highlights

Great shots Grahame

Plenty of data there to play with as Trevor's quick PP shows.

That's normal with RAW stacking in DSS.

Nice detail in there Grahame, and good amount of exposure time. I agree with the others that it's a bit dark, that you can bring more detail out, but I think Trevor's overdone it a bit :)

Good work Grahame!
Median combine should get rid of any satellite streaks.
