Damn was it hot overnight here last night. When I went to bed at 10:30pm it was wasn't too bad, but when I woke up at 1am to take a leak my room was a freakin sauna! Turns out that the overnight minimum temp in Melbourne last night was 28.2ºC....a November record, just after I hit the sack, but rose to 30-31C for the rest of the night. Was 31 when I left for work at 5am this morning!

Some unreal overnight temps in other places...check out Mildura...39C just after midnight  http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDV60801/IDV60801.94693.shtml

and some more pearlers in western NSW:

I've read on the BOM site that the record high overnight minimums in Australia were just over 36C set in Renmark and a couple of outback SA sites...so pretty damn impressive to see temps like this in November.

Too hot for astronomy I think! Wouldn't want to be raining sweat on my EPs :P

Another warm night here...

Hot weather just before summer is never indicative of a hot summer ahead. But the BOM reckon it will be warmer than normal. However, such predictions are to be taken with a grain of salt....predicting temps months ahead is basically trying to predict the future...not possible.
