Time: 9.00 – 5.30pm, followed by a reception in the AIATSIS foyer
Venue: Mabo Room, AIATSIS
Registration: $50 (Concession $30 *Students and pensioners only – must show photo ID).

Funds are available to support registration by those wishing to attend the Indigenous Astronomy Symposium on the 27th of November 2009, and who do not have access to other sources of funding. Priority will be given to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander attendees. Spaces are limited, so please register as soon as possible.

2009 is the International Year of Astronomy and with CSIRO and the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR), AIATSIS is pleased to host the first forum for debate and discussion focused on Australian Indigenous Astronomy. In conjunction with the launch of art exhibition 'Ilgarijiri - things belonging to the sky (http://www.aiatsis.gov.au/events/ilgarijiri.html)' , a one day symposium on Indigenous Astronomy will be held at the Institute on the 27th of November 2009.

The symposium will bring together leading expertise in the field to share knowledge and perspectives about Australian Indigenous perceptions of the night sky.

Its funny that you post this now just last night someone asked about Australian Indigenous Astronomy I had to say that I didn't know anything about it. Is there a resource on the web showing their astronomical law
