Thanks for the good wishes--I think im so impressed because the last time I looked through a scope at the night sky,it would have to be close to 40yrs ago(with my little tasco refractor I had as a kid and although I used it alot--and it was heaps of fun--it did leave alot to be desired).
Why did I leave the return to star watching so long????
Thanx again--this has been a very pleasant journey for me so far---
Cheers-Eric

Eric. I am insanely jealous of your setup for just starting out. Nice bit of kit, I've been at this for about 4 years now, and only just got to where you are. Use it every chance you get, read as much as you can and if you think what you see in your backyard is great, get yourself to a dark site or star party, then you'll see something!

Thanks again for all the positive feedback.
Dark sites?
Yep--I think I know what you mean now as the wife and I went out west last weekend. I only had the binos but OMG all the extra structures and stars etc that you could make out-unbelievable-I will be taking the scope next time!
