HH NEb in HA with Fast Achro now with more data

Canon 5DH. Skywacher 150mm F5 with Hutech FR/FF so FL is 640mm and f/4.25. Astronomik 13nm HA filter.

Exposures 15x4m and 8x8m at 1600 ISO.

Now have 20x( 4 and 8 min) exposures.

I will try for a set of sixteen minute exposures tonight as the EOS 5DH's sensor still has plenty of head room left.

Marvellous! But Bert, what are you doing capturing Ha data so close to new moon?!?! Crazy! Get some conventional RGB colour data while you're at it and use what you've captured as a deep luminance for an LRGB composite. Would make a rewarding image if you're up for the challenge.

EDIT: RGB colour data doesn't need to be from the Achro!! Surely you've got some RGB from the 300mm lens of the region.

Jase the last two nights had intermittent cloud moving through about 60% of the time. I decided to use this to just finish the deep HA of the HH. I suspect it wil be the same tonight as southerlies are forecast.

I will get the 100ED out with the AP FR/FF to get RGB data.

I really need moonless skies to do 16 minute Ha exposures as ANY Moon will sneak through at f/4.25 and 1600 ISO with a 13nm HA filter.

I have learned to be patient and not chop and change setups too quickly as you just end up with a lot of not quite finished data sets.

Lots of detail there Bert. A bit more exposure will smooth it out a bit more.

Wow, very nice. Thats helped me to decide what to do next imaging session. get the 300mm lens and HA filter out. I note youre shooting at ISO 1600. I too have noted I seem to get better data shooting at high ISO's with the HA filter.
yes youre right even with narrowband filters, the fact we use such fast F ratios means some moonlight will sneak past, thus we are best off using moonless skies for this work.

You use the fridge? what temps were you shooting at?
Thermal noise really is a pain with DSLR narrowband imaging. Your fridge comes in handy.

Certainly did. Managed to get a 12x16 min at1600 ISO fridge at-5C.

Weare starting to hit the law of diminishing returns. Only a very dark sky site would improve things.
