hi i'm new to astronomy
i bought a 4mm plossl eyepiece for my little newtonian reflector, but i don't think the focuser goes down enough to get a clear focus on this 4mm eyepiece. is there anything i can do?
thanks in advance for any help

Please tell us a little more about your reflector - make, model, aperture, focal length?
I would suspect that a 4mm plossl is pushing the scope beyond its limits to produce an acceptable image? I found that a 6mm plossl was too much for an 8" reflector - as well as the eye relief being way too small.
Are you clearly not getting down to the smallest image? Or are you going through the smallest image but its still a fuzzy blob at that point?

What's your target? Have you tried other eye pieces as well as checked collimation ? Probably good to start with a lower power eye piece first and take it from there.

hi thanks
its the celestron firstscope, so 76mm aperture, 300 fl. because it came with a 4mm eyepiece, i thought i'd get a 4mm plossl to increase the quality of image. i can get a very clear image at building close by when i looked outside, but anything further away its blurry as the focuser on the telescope don't quite go down enough. the eyepiece the scope came with i can focus on distance object, but quality wasn't too good

well, reviews don't sound very positive, atleast it got me into astronomy now, so it has done its job. I will get a better scope once i have enough money saved up.

if you have time you can drop around here and play with the 4.5 Reflector I have in the back yard, total cost was under $150 second hand, you dont have to spend a fortune to have fun, or join the local club!
