Whilst at Star Camp a couple of people asked about pluckable foam, Wombat?
and one or two others.
I checked out our local Clark Rubber and they still have it in stock, if anyone still wants it just let me know and we'll make arrangements.
The size of the sheets are :- 385 x 290 x 75 and cost is $11.50 per sheet.

Missed this thread, thanks John.

I'll check out local clarke rubber and if they don't have any, expect a call!

That size sheet sounds about perfect for my eyepiece case.

umm, what is pluckable foam?

low offgassing?

you can 'cut' it with your fingers?

is falls apart like the feathers on a dead chicken?

haha

It's the foam they use in camera cases, which has little cut squares throughout it, so you "pluck" out the exact space you need with your fingers. You don't need to cut it, and hence you end up with a perfectly sized hole with nice clean edges.

ahh - so only useful for EP boxes etc - not for the scope?

Yep, that's correct.

I used a 1 1/4 wad punch on a 3-4" thick medium density to provide "custom" holes and used a SHARP trim knife and a steel ruler to cut out the larger openings for the Nagler etc. Worked very well ( and didn't look as tacky as some of the pluckable solutions!)
