I've bought camera gear off them (though in the US not here). Their service was pretty fast and no hassles.
You'd still be wacked for import duty and VAT though (if the items totalled $1000 or more AU).
And I don't think their delivery charges are the cheapest.
It's also worth finding out if they are an authorised dealer for the gear, or just a re-seller. Most co's won't honour a warranty from an unauthorised re-seller.
Having said all that, the company itself is pretty good and I've not met anyone with hassles that weren't sorted out over the phone.
Good luck,
PJH
... we call it GST here in Oz Peter. VAT is a vestige of the old country ;)

My experience has been good buying books, but Amazon have refused all requests for international shipping on any sort of gear other than books.
Maybe others have had more luck?

nope only bought books and CD's and DVD's offa there, (got the most kickass blues collection of CD's you could imagine now - still growing :)) i dont know for how much longer tho, when i started a couple of years ago, there was 3 levels of shipping, the intermediate shipping was only about 17 bucks US, now its about 45 bucks US for same level of postage!!!! (of course i try and put a lot on one order to minimise that) and its now the top level of two modes of shipping outrageous for a fistfull of CD's! damn yankees they want their pound of flesh outta me!

I've mostly avoided them since they doubled the shipping from the US last year. Also, as others have mentioned, they will refuse to ship most things overseas.
When I really need to buy from them and they refuse to ship to AU, I go through my remailer.
Overall I've found it easier/cheaper to buy through amazon.co.uk instead when it comes to books or DVDs.

Most people shopping from Amazon go through www.priceusa.com.au
