Half an hour until "the race that stops a nation"
Anyone having a wager?
I have a little each way on #7, Ista Kareem. If it comes through I can splash a little on a new astro toy ;)

Had $2 the win on Shocking, amongst other random bets. Ended up breaking even which is always better than a loss!!!

Hi All, :)
Mumble !$%%$*^%%(& Mumble. Bet on 4 trifectors. Got nothin' again. The winning trifector paid $9400. That's my once a year fling on horses.
I once won about $650 on a trifector. Hardly ever win but when it does, new toys.:lol:
Hope you lot did better.
Cheers Marty
No new toys for me :( My horse was last for 3/4 of the race =/

A quiet avo infront of the computer , and out of the stinker that it was outside today (got to near 100 in the old scale and was steamy as heck when I collected the mail).
On days like today , I am so glad I bought the biggest available split rev cycle a/c (actually overpowered and too big for our house according to the salesman at the time .... but I'd done my thermal calcs and knew better) , and that I put batts in the exterior walls when I pulled the old asbestos sheets off and reclad with hardyplanks, and insulated with pink batts all those 20 years ago when I renovated this house). Just wish there was a scheme that paid for the insulation when I did it and it wasn't a trendy thing to do.
Watched Stargate Universe S01E06 (torrented it) and the last episode of Torchwood (via iView) as I missed it last Friday.
Never been interested in the G-Gs , and even less interested in the MC. You probably have a better chance of winning playing the one armed bandits than betting on the horses.

I have picks #7 and #8 in the office sweep. I wonder which horses they are?

I had #10, and I understand it is still running, LOL.
And this from a non horse guy who has the pleasure of looking at the 2001 MC winner most mornings out the window. Go figure.

haha nice story Gary.
I came second in the $2 office sweep, after buying 5 horses (1 for each family member).
I came out $1.20 on top! Winner!

Horse racing doesn't really interest me unless there's a jockey or trainer I know of involved.

Hi All,
I'm not a betting man at all and I don't know one end of a horse from the other (whch probably explains why no one will ever let me feed them when I'm in the country). I have no interest and nil expertise at all in horseracing.
But, I have a strange and happy knack with Melbourne cup sweeps. I've been at my present (part-time) day job for 6 Melbourne Cups. I usually get a ticket for myself and one for the wife.
In the previous 5 years I've had a total of 3 winners, 2 seconds and 2 thirds out of 10 tickets purchased.
Today I was up to my usual form -- my two tickets ran 2nd & 3rd. So in 6 years, that makes 3/3/3 -- 9 of the 12 tickets returned money.
If that isn't good enough I can remember at least 4 other office sweeps in the last 15 years where I've won.
Don't ask me to explain it -- it's just the Universe playing silly-buggers with probability. I have a feeling I'll be banned next year.
Best,
Les D
