Hi All,
We have a small family growing up in the Jacaranda in my front yard. Only noticed them the other day, I spent about an hour getting few shots this afternoon from my front balcony.
Canon 40D
f/11
1/320th sec at 263mm with a Sigma 70-300 apo.

Hi Les
Nice shot - is that a Black Faced Cuckoo Shrike?
Cheers

Wonderful!
Hey. Nice one, Les.
You caught some very nice 'action' in that shot.
A little work in CS3 in Shadows/Highlights really brings the detail out in the birds:)

Hi Dennis & All,
Thanks people!
I wouldn't have had a clue before this afternoon but I believe it is. The chicks in the nest look very "cuckoo-like" to me with their massive beaks.
The adult is a quite attactive bird I think. They are quite a bit of fun to watch as they rotate back and forth after hunting for grubs for the kids.
Thanks for the re-work Matt -- much improved!
Best,
Les D
A pleasure, Les.
My skills in Photoshop are fairly limited but I try to do the best I can with them, and am happy to show others what's possible...even with a limited skill base.
But at the end of the day it still comes down to the quality of capture and you can only work with what you've got.
So, well done!
