Hi All,

First of all, I have to say sorry for that I am not so often to reply or to present my input to your postings due to not logging in this forum regularly.

Attached you can find my latest Mars image taken at 16:05 UT of 04thNov05 through my 12.5" F5 Newtonian + Or-9mm eyepiece projection + UV/IR blocking filter + ToUcam. Seeing was just fair to good (4-6/10). 1333 frames stacked in Registax and 66.7% resized + cropped in PS

The blue channel was very under-exposed and so the color of this image looks something strange. But I personnally bias to Mars image in red color.

BTW, what is your favorite Mars colour? Anyone is welcome to reprocess my image to show your favorite colour if you have interest.

Any input is appreciated.

Clear skies,

LT

LT - beautiful image, very fine features and to my eyes "natural" looking hues.

William, I don't understand how you get such excellent images all the time with your massive light pollution??!!

That is a terrific shot . . . AGAIN!

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your care.

From the start of September, I are very busy with work. So, I don't have too much spare time to do astronomy. Moreover, the sky didn't cooperate. Though we had no. of clear night more than average, it was very haze and thus very low transparency resulted. Moreover, seeing was not good. In the past 2 months, I could do 4 times of planetary imaging and none of star field/deep sky imaging. Very poor planetary images were got except this one.
Weather forecasts that we will be having cloudy nights in the following days.
And from tomorrow to Christmax, I will be busy with work again. So, I may "disappear" in this forum for quite a long period again.

Anyway, if time allows, even just very little, and the sky cooperates, I will keep imaging on Mars and the rising Saturn and post them here for sharing.

Take care,

LT

Hi Bird and others,

Thanks for your kind words.

Bird: could you tell me what you have done on reprocessing my image? Your reprocessed one looks much better. Mine was very yellowish as commented by other folk.

Though I have started webcam imaging since 2002, it is seemed that my skills don't progress too much, especially in image processing. Upto now, I always have problems in color balance.

HK is air polluted very severely, and thus it is not possible to do any star field astrophotography here. But for planetary webcam imaging, the main killer is the air disturbance. If the air is very unsteady, I will not do any imaging. I only do it once the seeing condition is better than 4/10.

Finally, thanks again for your looking and inputs.

Clear skies,

LT

LT, I loaded you image into the GIMP which is my favourite image editing program, and altered the colour balance a little, also adjusted the levels to increase contrast a little, reduced the saturation a little, and (I think) added a small amount of unsharp mask.

Hi all,

Thank you very much for your appreciation. I am still reworking on the color. It is seemed that some progress has been made, as following Bird's routine.

Hi,

Attached is my reprocessed Mars image to reduce the too much yellowish tone. So, I would like to hear your opinion on it.

Thanks.
