I had a mess around with focusing the 50mm finder by using the threaded objective holder then locking it in place with the lock ring.
Tighter stars sharper DSO's.
Try it.

Funny you should bring this up David.
I just readjusted mine to suit me using no glasses.
No more glasses on glasses off all the time. yay!

David I discovered you could do this a while age. I got myself a red dot finder and consequently the kids were tooling around with the 50mm finder and asked 'Mum, is this how you focus this thing?' ..I had a look and learnt something (else) new that day. Yay for inquisitive kiddies :D ;).

When I bought my DOB the focuser was already adjusted, I thought they would be one already when I bought the new one. Couldn't find focus control at the back of the new one so I was just about the call the supplier. Managed to find the screw thread at the front. Learn something new.

Interesting, I focus my finders for glasses on! I need to be able to see the sky clearly with my left eye (hence glasses) while my right eye looks through the finder (straight-through, of course, the only useful type of focusser!).

I haven't had the scope out yet since I readjusted Eric.
I'll let you know how it works out.
I was just sick and tired of glass on for finder, glasses off for ep.
all the darn time....

Sadly I have no choice. I need distance glasses on to look at the sky, then glasses off to look through the eyepiece (then reading glasses on to look at the planisphere). Groan!

That's why I decided to invent "adjustable glasses" and become a rich man !
I started to fiddle with oil lenses (two thin plastic sheets with transparent oil under pressure between them) only to discover that there are hundreds of filed patents already ..
And then one day the whole thing burst into my eyes and onto my shirt and everything.. and I was back to two pairs of $5 reading spectacles from reject shop in no time :P

Once you have cataract surgery your eyes become "fixed focus" somewhere between here and there ( about mid-distance). I have heard that variable implants are on the way.
Unfortunately my astigmatism problem means glasses on all the time. However, I find I can happily look through an e.p. without them. Probably can't see the stars etc quite as sharp as I would like, but then, I can see them!
