Hi All,
Thought I would get in the swim here with IceinSpace and post some pictures taken this last week on the two clear nights we have had in the last month, Both taken with a modifed Canon EOS300D + ED80 Scope, ISO-800, Single 10 Min. Exp. DF removed, processed in Photoshop, guided on an LX200

I'm impressed! Both great shots but that is a fantastic Horsehead, especially for a single exposure. I look forward to seeing more of your "break in the clouds" shots.

Very nice images and welcome to the mad house. Keep those images coming. I have done the same thing with my ED80 mounted on my LX200. Lovely imaging.

They are very nice shots. i am leaning every day to an ed80 for a guide scope,( apart from my the Mak of course). it is a treat to get someone with more skills to learn from! adds to the other guys on the forum who are, well, extremely accomplished. You have a benchmark now, look forward to the future.

Excellent shots Jim, just a lil Q how come the stars take on a an oval shape in the left
side of both images? is this due to you running the mount in Alt-Auz mode?

Hi All,
Many thanks for all your comments, and to answer a few queries, yes I do post on AD also, the bloated/disorted stars I feel may be due to the glass I used in place of the Canon UV/IR filter which was removed, causing face to face reflection (I hope not) ill be trying some anti-glare solution of the upper face and see if it helps, it should make some difference if this is the problem, I have tried using the Baader UV/IR block filter which makes no difference (so IR out of phase not the problem), hoping for a good night to try it (the Camera) on the LX200 at F-6.3 see what the difference (reftactor-reflector is) but even at this F-Ratio it doest give me much of a FOV, processing DSLR pictures is very different from the FITs images ex my MX7C, still learning, anyway ive seen some fantastic DSLR pictures here on this forum using "stacking" images, something I havent mastered, I can stack em, but the total dosent look any better than one image, any suggestions from out there??.

Hi Jim Good to see you here. When you find out how to do it I would like to know also.. everytime I stack the image seems to get worse if anything.. I know its me but I havent figured it out yet

Hi Jim,

If the images are not improving when you stack them, then there is definitely something wrong. The signal to noise ratio in the images should increase by the square root of the number of images. Can you describe what you do?
