Righto, my tax return isn't far off (I hope!!), and I've long been toying with the idea of jumping into the dark side.

For those of you imaging through the ED80, is there any more adaptors etc that I would need before I start imaging at prime focus? I already have a t-adaptor for my DSLR, my main concern is whether or not the standard focuser can support the camera weight and if it is lockable.

My aim is to build a dob mount for my current 8" newt so my son can use it, and have a dedicated refractor to use for imaging. It will be mounted on an EQ6 Pro and I already have a guidescope as well (hopefully Santa brings an Orion Start Shoot Autoguider :D)

Any and all thoughts are appreciated

Benno.

Hi Benno

Sounds like your all set, the focuser on the ED80 is up to the job, infact, it sounds like you have answered your own question, apart from the guider for longer subs ... i dont think you need worry about anything else.

Cheers mate, just what I feared....now the only thing stopping me is the lack of scope (well, and a lens for my guidescope, but that's being addressed at the moment ;))

I have to say also that my main motivation for this is to get an image into next year's compendium (if we end up doing another version that is!).
