Pretty big.

No surprises there , there are some big tiger sharks , hammerheads and great whites out there of all Australian beaches all the time.

What surprises me is that no one is talking about killing it (yet) or hunting it down (yet) .

Jaws coming to the beach , river or lake near you .... kind of paranoia and fear mungering .... maybe too early in the beach season ..... ?

On those occasions I've visited the far north and north west, I've been more worried when near the water about esterine crocs than I'm ever worried about a shark taking a nibble on me.

Crocs see a person and they see dinner , and they'll stalk you .

Sharks don't see people as dinner , if they bite a person they generally don't come back for a second bite .... if they had thought processes they'd be thinking something like .... " Ew....! Yuck ....! what was that ?".

The megalodon you see here is about the average specimen. They've recently found fossils of anterior teeth of one shark that would've been 25 metres long and probably weighed about 120 ton!!!!:eyepop::eyepop::eyepop:

According to the 100% scientifically accurate film I rented last night (MegaShark vs Giant Octopus), Megalodons can grow up to 300 ft long, swim at 500 knots, jump high enough to snap an airliner in two and swallow a supertanker whole!!!
Fortunately they have a deadly enemy in the Giant Octopus. It grows to 500 ft long, can devour an oil rig in one gulp and swallow the entire US Pacific fleet whole. But they like nothing better than death-matches with Megalodons.
Thank God for natures checks and balances!!!

I figure if I'm on land I have at least half a chance of outrunning a snake, dog, croc, hell I'll even give myself good odds against a bull. But there's no way you can out-swim a shark, and there's no trees to hide behind or climb!

Been several weeks since I visited VideoEzy, there was nothing I wanted to see (or resee) in the new release section then.

Got news for you .... you'll not out run a dog , or a croc (expecially not a croc if you're on the menu). And climbing a tree wont save you from a croc , if it doesn't wait for the tide to come and simply tail slam and grab you , it'll set up camp under or near the tree and wait for you get thirsty and climb or fall down.
They can go months between meals and drinks, you wont last more than a few days in the tropical heat.

Truth is this whole story is more about politics than anything else.

The nets and drumlines take a horrific toll on non target marine life and always have, the scrutiny the drowned and tangled whales have been
giving this dated and backward policy this year is well deserved ..imo
Not to mention the touch or irony in that the minister would well be aware that his dept is quite happily dumping a major food source for these scavengers of the oceon
not far from where this one was caught.

That's not news for me. I said I'd give myself at least half a chance ;)
Bottom line is, I'm not putting myself in a situation where I know I'm not top of the food chain. I won't go swimming at beaches without patrols and shark-nets (yes, I know they're not 100%). I won't go swimming or walk near waterways in northern Australia where I know crocs are going to be. I won't go on a safari in Africa where I'm walking around wild lions. You get the picture.

You haven't met me in real life, but let me tell you... to a hungry animal, I reckon I'd look pretty plump and tasty :)
