Managed to get enough data last thing over a few early mornings to get this 10MB

Camera Canon 5DH, Canon 300mm F2.8L at f/5, Hutech LPR filter. Fridge at -10C.

Exposures. 10x( 1m, 2m ) at 400ISO, 10x( 1m, 2m ) and 14x(4m, 8m ) at 1600 ISO. Usual HDR method.

Note how the belt stars are not blown out.

Bet you can't wait to add some more to this one. Even at this stage it's looking pretty special Bert.
There's hints of the back ground dust that of course will blossom once you can stretch it out more.
I'll be looking out for this one in the future.

Yes, nice work Bert.

You are quite right, the stars aren't blown out, you use a cardboard stop in front of the lens if I'm not mistaken? This would have helped and removed the normally major diffraction spikes. :thumbsup:

Interesting to compare to Houghy's shot - pretty similar

It is important to accurately center them on the optic axis of the lens to stop any intensity gradients.

I am collecting data from a site at Eltham only 18km from Melbourne. Street lights and wasteful neighbours are my main enemies when the Moon is not around.

Massive FoV delivers a well known object pairing. I like it Bert, but how about a composite. You're bound to have some longer focal length data of M42 and IC434. Register and blend it in to give the wide field vista more depth and detail. Don't over do it though, a blend of 20% to 30% opacity is typically all that is required to give it punchy details. Well done.
