A beautiful nebula now rising in the early morning.

I just returned from 3 nights in a row of beautiful clear skies where I managed to image 4 objects about 24 hours worth.

This one though was taken about 5 weeks ago with the Tak BRC250 before I sold it.

FLI ML8300 camera, Baader filters, Tak NJP mount.

HaLRGB 60 60 40 20 20 (why the 40 in red and not the others? Earlier than expected dawn ruined 2 green and blue). Currently your last image has to be finished by about 4:30am otherwise it gets too light).

Here is a cropped portion of the image that highlights the beautiful parts of the nebula:

Ha was blended in with multiple layers set to various blending modes and colour channels and done twice with one set to luminance as a mask to highlight the ridged area and help tone down a couple of select stars but not generally where it will wash out colour saturation).

Thanks Greg.

Very nice Greg note over processed great colour tight stars but what caused the streak crossin gthe diffraction spike of the bright star in the bottom left

The stars and neb look great. Some posterization though on the lower left as noise and under the bright star in the neb showing as blue. Is this some color clipping?

Thanks. I liked how it turned out filter reflections nothwithstanding.

Oh that is just a satellite in one of the subexposures coming through.
Or perhaps a meteorite. They happen. Usually median combine filters those out but sometimes a bright one may still make it through.

That is just a bad filter reflection going on between the corrector lens and the filter. To some degree the luck of the draw, perhaps the Astronomik filters would have shown less reflections as I used to mainly use them with this camera and filter wheel. This image used the Baader filter set.
With the TEC scope I don't have to use the field flattener with the same chip 8300 and still get round stars to the corner so those sorts of bad reflections will be a thing of the past. This was one of the first images using the Baader filters with this camera as I normally had these filters setup with the Apogee U16M's filter wheel. But these Baader filters have great red response.

Thanks. It was a good setup. But too much the same focal length as my TEC180mm scope.

Here is a cropped version which I like better as it gets rid of that ugly reflection from the filter and highlights the more beautiful part of this nebula.

Thanks Paul. Yes they were long nights but its all part of the fun especially now the nights are getting a bit warmer.

Greg,

Vibrant, rich, stunning and saturated.

What a fantastic image. You should be proud.

Regards,
Humayun

P.S. I'm diggin' those diffraction spikes, however they are created!

Thanks Humayun.

The diffractions spikes are from the Tak BRC250 which has a secondary spider. Yeah I don't mind diffraction spikes. They are a taste.

You've been very busy, some awesome work on display here Greg!

Thanks Mike. I got 3 clear nights last week during a midweek trip to my site. Sometimes the weekends "seem" to be more prone to poor weather
during the imaging weekends over the last year and a half.

Nice to meet you at IISAC and what a wonderful job you did. It was so well organised. My wife commented on how well you organised it as well.
