Bert (avandonk) loaned me his 8" Tal Klevtsov scope to see how I go on those tiny distant super faint fuzzies I like so much. Thanks Bert.

This is the 1st chance since last March!!!! that I have actually been able to image through Bert's Tal Klevtsov. I have had all sorts of computer dramas!

Massive thanks to Doug (Hagar), because of him all is functional now.

Thanks to Martin (Mill) for helping sort out a different guiding program.

The focusing is something I have to get used to as I have been using an electronic focuser for the last few years, now I have to do it manually with a Helical 57mm focuser.
It ain't quite right yet.

After imaging at f7.5 and Canon 350d for the last 2 years this f10 caper will take some getting used to, needing MUCH longer exposures.

Here are my first 2 attempts at imaging with the f10 Klevtsov and Canon 350d:

1: NGC 1566 in Dorado (looks terrible, like a bad painting)

2: NGC 253 in Sculptor (Not my best but I like this one even if it is a bit blurry)

The Klevtsov does look promising once I work out the exposure times to go DEEP.

Top work Ken. Focus and guiding are on the money. The Spanish dancer could perhaps do with more data to further push out the structure. Overall two great images. Looking forward to seeing what you'll come up with when you work through the short exposure barrier.

My guiding has always been spot-on for imaging at f7.5 but it was a real test at f10.
My guidescope is only f5 and I had no idea how it would cope.

These images were a test to see how well the Klevtsov works in dark sky and most of the time was taken up getting a new laptop and new programs working correctly so there wasn't much time left for loooong subs.

1566 (Spanish Dancer) will make a good test object for longer exposures as it has very faint outer arms.
Then it will be the search for my favourite objects, very faint distant Galaxy clusters :)

But so far I am happy with the results Berts Klevtsov gives.

They look pretty good Ken. the last time I saw the spanish dancer was at Qld Astrofest a few years back through a 30" dob. Must be a nice scope to use.

Yeah, the Dancer is a fairly faint object for a quick test.
The scope seems very nice to use so far. It's real test will be out in Deep Deep DEEP space.

I like 1566, thats a new one for me. Nice spiral structure there that could be enhanced with 6 hours of exposure.

1566 is a new one for me, I think it's sensational, more dark skies. longer subs, can't wait to see the results ken.

Lovely pictures Ken and Im glad you got the kletsov going after so many tribulations with it.

1566 is a fairly bright southern show-piece galaxy. If it were in northern skies, everybody would have heard of it.

From wiki. "NGC 1566 is an intermediate spiral galaxy in the constellation Dorado. It is the dominant[2] member of the Dorado Group and also its brightest member.[3][4] It is the second brightest Seyfert galaxy after NGC 1068."

I was put onto 1566 at camp by Martin (mill) coz he imaged it, so I gave it a go too. Had to test the scope on something fainter than 253.
Soon as moonless skies return I am going deep and loooong on something faint.

1566 ,one of my favorites which was pointed out to me by Geoff (Starkler) at the last camp after a nice visual of it through his 16" beast.

Hi Ken, How rude of me, I thought I had passed a comment but obviously not, must have been sidetracked somehow with termites or some other bugs.

1566 gets my vote, more exposure time and this will be a ripper. The image shows up the spial arms beautifully.
Looks like the scope will suit your neds as a fuzzy chaser very well.

Glad to see you back imaging again, you have a talent for the faint stuff so some good gear will make life a lot easier.
