So the husband surprised me with a 3-6mm zoom eyepiece last night (thank you, AUD), and when we pointed it at Jupiter what did we see but a shadow transit! It was terribly exciting, I have to say - I'm a fan of the Jovian system, so it was VERY cool to see this phenomenon at last (at about 11.30 last night). It was quite hazy, despite looking clear, so the higher magnifications didn't focus too well - but 6mm was great.

It was also incredible to see the moon at that magnification (we've been using a 10mm up til now, which has been wonderful and I love, but this - amazing!).

I was looking at that as well. The moon transiting was Io. At about 12-30 (Eastern summer time) it was very close to the western edge. Just off the western edge was Callisto, if I had waited another 20 mins or so it would have started its transit.
