Andromeda Galaxy captured at Snake Valley Astro Camp. 5 X 5 minute exposures.
I only managed 5 exposures due to a couple of power poles and a power line in the wrong spot for this target. I didn't know if I would end up with anything out of this image as the Galaxy was only at about 10 degrees above the horizon.
M31 is a target I cannot even see from my home so I was pretty excited to even get this much data.
Scope: Takahashi FSQ 106ED at f5.
Camera: QHY8 cooled CCD.

Top work Doug, for an object so low in the sky that's a beauty
Very classical 1950's colour Palomar Schmidt look to it, nice

Nice wide field image Doug. I have good view of this from Clayton but not from inside my observatory. Your image as Mike said has that classic Palomar look to it. Stars look very nice though too.

Top image of this northern splendor Doug. To get this much detail, that low to the horizon, goes to show the clarity in the atmosphere at SV.

That's a nice shot Doug - guiding working well, nice stars. Lots of detail in the arms too. Lovely shot.

Very nice detail in that one Doug :)
You got 2 more exposures than me, it was bloody low on the horizon.
Next time we have to get my tent out of the way and that stupid pole too.
Really nice shot Doug. Glad you bagged M31!
:eyepop:wow beautiful pic Doug :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Yep that is always going to be a special site for me now first time i ever viewed Andromeda was at Snake Valley ;)
And yep we got rid of the light this year next year we hack the pole down too :lol::lol:
Great image Doug, a very classic image.
I didn't think M31 would even be visible that far south but I've been proven wrong.
Top stuff.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I was really chuffed at getting this image. I can't say it was an easy one as I had to look over the top of Mills tent which looked something like a glowing igloo and then dodge a couple of power poles and power wires. All in all I was happy so few images gave such a nice image. Hagar the happy not horrible this time.
Doug I know how hard this object is, so congratulations, that's a fine image to capture from our low position.
This is one of my favourite galaxies and you've captured nice detail in the spirals especially for 25 min.
