It was very hot and dry today,i went with a good friend

to his property, its a bit of a trip, but was determind to get

some resonable bird pics, heres a mixed bag of what i got.

The last pic, certainly isnt going to win any prizes, but considering

the target was over a K away.to be able to positivily ID target

and see it was carrying a snake,is really amazing,The chap i was

with thought it fantastic, its a brown falcon with snake, proberly

a brown, they are designed to have them as a main menu item.

To see these birds hunt them is a great thrill,i often see them

with this cargo.

Fantastic Chris ... my bird knowledge broadens a little more. Just so enjoyable these photo's.

Pity about #1 - just soft on focus on the eyes (look like AF caught the back of the bird). #2 makes up for #1! Wow on #3 - my only suggestion would have been to catch the bird soaring like this *into* the sun so it's face etc isn't hidden in shadow (I know, easier said than done). I love the backlit tail feathers on this shot and it's a keeper. What sort of bird is #4, looks a bit like a peach face, but isn't of course. #5 too far away :(

Dave, #4 is a Dollar Bird (http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/bird/39)...they migrate between PNG and here each winter. They got their name from the two white spots under their wings.
