This is my first deep sky object taken with
Canon 400 mm prime F5.6 L lens,its a 451 second
exp,on a Vixen GP mount unguided.
I had a canon 450D,is0 800.piggy backed
on scope,I bought a Manfreto ball head.
its a good piece of kit,
thanks for looking.

yep
a bit of guiding and you'll be set
otherwise slightly shorter exposures might help

Tis a good start Chris - a bit of star movement, but not too bad considering. Showing some details of the arm structure too, nice!

Yeah, thanks for the feed back,i wont be getting
any tracking soon,i would much rather put the funds
towards my new L series lens, its going to get far more use!
I like the look of that location you have Spearo!

you already have the scope, all you need is a little DSI and your away your guiding will give even the most basic canon lens a big big head start more than any canon L series lens.

Great start to a new piece of kit but if you want to take long exposures you will have to get some guiding. I think there is probably a lot more data in this image to work with.
Keep at it.
Why not try manual guiding through the scope that you had the lens piggybacked on? People were guiding images before autoguiders came out :)
