Hey brainfreeze, brrrrr, welcome to IIS, :hi:.
I would ask the place you bought the scope from to give you a demo on how to use the scope safely. It's the least they can do. They will be able to answer questions without fear of having things go 'snap'.
Ask them to show you how to go through a collimation routine. You will need to buy an extra bit of kit, but this will give you the very best performance of your scope.

Oh, and ask them the best way to deal with dewed up optics before you put the scope away.

Hi Jamie,
Welcome to Ice in Space. Which brand of truss dob have you bought? They will vary in their mechanism. I have not used the commercially built ones, but there will be plenty of people here with experience with your type of scope.

Which scope did you buy?
Some are collapsible and some are rigid...
Oops, I see someone else already asked that.

If it's a Skywatcher.
You should see a silver wingnut on each of the three trusses. Remember, Righty tighty, lefty loosey.
Then grab the two black knob handholds on the upper white part of the tube.
You can define the upper part by an obvious seperation or indent along the tube, where you'll find your lower half cover with it's moon light filter cap.
