View Full Version here: : Moon and Antares 04/11
This is a quick photo of the Moon and Antares from tonight. I didn't have a lot of time to take the photo so I placed the Nikon on the roof of my work ute and used the timer for a 1 sec exposure. It didn't occult from Mackay but it was close, further north it would have. It was a very beautiful sight to the naked eye and using binoculars. The other star like object in the photo is Mercury.
Hey Top image Mick,
Wish we had good weather.....

Had a go at the moon tonight with the ED80 and 350 @ prime.
Had to mess around a bit to get focus, but they turned out o.k.
Love that red Antares in your pic Dave:)

Great pix's guy's!!
I didn't image just observed, Actually I was looking at the cresent moon Thursday
evening. There's something about the thin sliver of a cresent moon, such a beautiful
sight.
Houghy, I set my alarm clock last night for 2am this morning. We had clear skies right
through until dawn, Boy Saturn was a sight!!! man I need a laptop... carting the desktop
outside is becoming a real choir!!! or is it me being lazy. Hell I'd love a tin shed with
a roll off roof, and just leave everything setup.!! maybe a plan for the next few months
Build a shed to hide in for winter.

yes rob, i intend to lots more moon work! it is beautiful. I am thinking of overexposing the moon to get the earth shadow and then a properly exposed limb and then combining???
Did you get any images Rob? :confuse2:

Thanks Kearn, it wasn't long ago at all.
I wouldn't be able to do anything this good without the help and support i have had from this forum.
It has helped me choose a good camera, scope, mount, and still remains an endless stockpile of info and tips for a newby.
I have this site to thank for my progress, and all who have posted and shared their knowledge.
Come to think of it, i would be 5k richer if i hadn't of found this site.:P
