Since I will get it in my hands in the morning, I am proud to announce that I am the new owner of a 16 mm T5...
I am sure that it will now rain and be cloudy for the next month...sorry all
Can't wait to see it and through it.

Hurray! It made it safely to my greedy little hands...Oh yeah, my family arrived safely from the US too...
Now just to get some clear skies...

I had intended to try out this new eyepiece tonight with what I hoped would be a clear Sydney sky...I was once again thwarted...
I did get about 15 minutes just befoer dark looking at the moon...I was determined to use this piece of glass. I fully confess that I am not qualified to do an eyepiece review...so a simple statement of I like or not will have to suffice.
The fit and finish was typical TV quality...I plopped it into the 8 inch Dob and got a nice sized view of the first quarter moon...it was a comfortable view for me with the moon taking up a good portion of the field of view...I liked the view. Some have expressed concern over tight eye relief in this eyepiece...I did not have any difficulties. I do not wear glasses so ER is not normally a big concern of mine.
The conditions quickly clouded over and before the scope really got a chance to cool down the clouds sent me packing inside...oh well, at least I have used it.
I can't wait to try it out in earnest in the Discovery...
The other good thing about this quick evening was the use of my observing chair...since I got the Discovery I have not gotten the 8 inch out much...even for quick looks...this was mostly because I had gotten spoiled by not needing to "crouch" as much with the bigger dob...the adjustable chair was truly amazing and I was able to adjust up and down for the kids in a snap...I do not know how I got by without one before...
Nice EP, let us know how you go once the skies clear, if they'll ever clear again.
Can you give us any details of the chair, I'm really interested in one as well.
Edit: Sorry I found the thread. Thanks.
Cheers.

Wavelandscott, I have the 13mm T6 and I agree that while some people complain about short eye relief, I found it ample. In fact I cannot use the rubber eyeguard because I get blackouts. I have to hold my eye further back to take in the full view. My eyelashes do not touch the glass even if I blink while viewing. If I decide to keep the T5 EP (after comparing it with the cheaper 13mm Straton), I will put an eyeguard extension on it.

Congrats on your purchase, my next investment is the 20mm t5 which I have tried
and like lots!!! although short er doesn't bother me either they do tend to fog up
easier in the winter months.
