Hi,

I am not sure if this has been suggested before, I had a look around and couldn't see anything, but would it be possible to create a sub-forum where people can suggest/talk about books relating to astronomy/relevant scientific theories, and others I guess?

While suggested reading is noted in some of the forums it would be great if there was a place for people to go for ideas on what their next book purchase might be. I have been reading quite a bit lately but realistically my options have been some what limited by the availability of books in my favourite book shop and what they have available at that time. It would, I think, create another great point of discussion for this website.

In case you are interested the book I am reading now is Biocosm by James N. Gardner (probably at the far limits of my understanding) and before that was The Genesis Enigma by Andrew Parker (just for something a bit different).

Anyway, what do you think? Would this be a worthwhile addition to the website? Or have I simply missed a forum or thread that already exists ?

Great idea, I second that.

Book sub-forum would be good, but ideally in the "Projects and Articles" section possibly a booklist with an associated forum discussion on the book. Saves a whole series of topics on a single book.

I've considered a book forum before, but don't think that it would be big enough on its own to warrant it.

Perhaps if it were combined with other media, such as TV and Movies it might be big enough to deserve its own sub-forum.

Like "Astronomy Books and Media" or something?

Hi,

That is a great idea Mike, hopefully something can be put in place to make it a little easier to find peoples suggestions on the must read/watch stuff out there.

Regards

Now that sounds like a plan. Excellent idea to get a review of a book before purchase.
