The dollar finally semi stabilized at a price that let me order a Moonlite focuser..

The baby has arrived, has all its fingers and toes, and has been installed. – half an hour including Collimation!
(First-Light at a Dark sky site on Friday if the weather holds, so expect rain in QLD)
I had never seen one in the flesh, but it exceeds my high expectations - the engineering is beautiful.

Yep, I have two as well, one on my refractor with dual speed and another on my LX with stepper motor control. They are solid smooth and very easy on the eye (Both of mine are royal blue). Ron's service is tops as well .

Well, Mrs R and I have looked through it. There were fires out by our favorite dark sky site and eventually the seeing turned to (expletive deleted) but we had about an hour of GREAT viewing.

The difference between the Moonlite and the original generic 1 speed focuser was unbelievable. With the laser collimator in, you can wind the focus from fully in to fully out and the dot doesn't move at all.
Its action is firm but does not "jump" when you begin a focus change, or backlash after you find focus. (and errr, call me shallow, but I love the heavy industrial "dont play with this at home kiddys" look of it.)

The ability to easily fine focus was fantastic. Mrs R said that it was like trading up to a bigger scope because the details of DSO's and Jupiter were so defined.

As that little geeky guy in the Shannons add says .. "It was love at first sight."
