Just saw a news flash, anyone know more info?
Apparently Nasa spacecrafts ahead and behind the sun captured the footage.

From the footage it seemed massive... Is this old news? I'm off to find out more.

"Nasa's twin Stereo spacecrafts "Behind" and "Ahead" captured rare footage of the Sun erupting over about a 30-hour period between 26 September and 27 September.

The eruption was so large that the spacecrafts were able to observe it for hours on end, one of the first times this has occurred."

Yeah that's the one.

Is this exceptional? Or does it happen every other day?

Just your average, large prominence. Nothing to write home about or worry over.

there's a lot not normal with the sun these past few years. What's not normal is nasa's discovery late last year regaring the earth/sun magnetic field interaction

It was just the way the news flash had presented it. As if it was out of the ordinary.

pretty cool footage - viewing the prominence from front and side gave a real good feel for it's size and development
