Yeah, bought one in December last year.

Haven't played it in 10 months.

It's sitting in a bag underneath one of my sofa's.

They are fun. I just have no time.

I dont use a box to fight but I understand the competative thing.

I love boxing and fights if I am picked..I have never picked a fight.

I like the feeling you get when you overpower an opponent but hate myself for feeling that way.

There is nothing as high as flogging saomeone in a fist fight particularly when they picked you and you flogged them.

I had a go recently with a mate 15 years younger.. he called me out the fool ...and he had a plate in his head..I would have killed him with one hit the fool ..but I did not have to hit him to get on top.. two kick blocks and he thought better..but it was so good backing him down I did not have to hit him after the kick blocks he knew he was done for if he went on with it. So although no real contact I won and it felt so good..how stupid to feel like that I hate my animal thing..but we are animal so I understand why and accept my aniaml stupidity.
These games seek to give us the feeling of a fight each day every day with no damage...how good is that.

We are aggressive as a species so any release of that stuff must be good for well being and much better to flog a computer box rather than a drunk mate who is acting up and awaiting disaster.

I don't have a wii but I recognise the value in having a computer game that actually encouraged the player to move about. Just watch those Wii injuries!:P If you have a Wii, Google Wii injury and learn from other's mistakes!:)

Too true. That's funny. I was talking with my kids just yesterday about the Wii (school holidays) because the PS3 is still in repair and I said what about it? Their reply was "nah... you've got to stand up and all and you need room to move around..." Too much hard work apparently. But I can live with it, they're both very active and do a lot of sports :)

Ugh
Computer games. Get rid of them.

For exersize. Mow the lawns, dig the garden, walk the dog, Pick a fight (for Alex ,with someone you can best). Play a strenuous sport. etc,, etc

I have heard from a number of people that have this Wii setup and it dose not last long until it ends up under the bed and forgotte,

It is fun for a while they tell me but then it is to much trouble to hook it up and have a go.

Hope it works for you Jen.

Hi Jen, Hi All,:)

We gave Wii's to both grandsons. We get invited to play on each and every visit.:)

Its a little putdowning when seven year olds beat you at boxing or tennis.

After a bit of practice I managed to be competitive. Beat the c..p out of the seven year olds.:lol:.

When dinasours ruled the Earth and I was a teenager, a boxing coach was begging me to take up the sport. I was more into athletics and State Volleyball.;):P

Cheers Marty

Yeah verily. Hear, hear!
Its rather like living off junk food rather than preparing a healthy meal from fresh veggies etc.
We spend enough time with our computers, in fact, probably too much. Gaming on them is just sheer decadence. Life's too short. Get out and live!

Ha Jen, when I read the title of your thread I thought you meant real beat 'em' up boxing!

Jen don't listen to the wii poo-pooers out there! I (Santa) bought 'the kids' a wii for Chrissie last year and we all still have a play when the time is right. I (Santa) splashed out and got 4 wheels and nun-chucks too so we can all drive against each other on Mario cart together. Great fun . But it really only gets used when it's wet out, or we have friands over, or if my son is bored with everything else. Luckily they are usually so busy outside they are not addicted to the wii.

Yep the sports sure do make you sweat don't they. And great fun too. The boxing sure gets your pulse up.

Hehe, I recently bought a 12 foot round trampoline for 'the kids' too - yee haa that thing is great fun; my mum (who is 65) has even been coming over and having a big bounce.

Too true!
I think our biggest flaw is not being able to realise our superiority over our opponent. Our second is not being able to realise we are out of our depth.

Back when I was training 3 times a week, then more at home, I was ripped as hell and near where I wanted to be.

I had a mate whom was at me for a number of years to spar with him, full contact with no pads. I refused and refused as I knew he would take it seriously and get very aggressive. Not to mention he was a foot taller than me and atleast 40kg heavier. I'm 6'1 and 65kg.

One fine day, he was pestering me once again, I gave in with the stipulation that if he gets aggressive I'll walk away.

After about 1min of him throwing really over powered aggressive hook shots and openly exposing his whole rib cage with every shot, I was about to say that's it. It was obvious he had no clue what to protect and when to attack.

He refused and kept goating me to continue, enforcing the fact that "I had nothing" . I had not thrown a single punch or kick, just blocked and dodged his punches.

I took advantage and showed him why not to goat people, when you don't know what your asking for.

Two (what I would call light) snap kicks later to his rib cage, he was on the ground in tears. It turned out I broke one rib and fractured two others.

No matter how big or strong you are, there is always going to be someone, who hands you a can of whoopass. I can attest to that, having 5 blackbelts stand around you in a circle, punching, elbowing and kicking the **** out of you for five minutes, teaches you to be humble.

These days I follow your tack Jen and keep the fighting, to the game stations.

I train in 3 styles of martial arts purely for the fitness and the discipline... Although being a young guy who does enjoy a night out on the town, its always nice to know that should anything happen I'm quite capable of defending myself and the people around me..

Thats what the people who lose always say :P hahaha! I love sparing.. its quite therapeutic.. Especially when you lose in my opinion... Theres nothing like having the poop beaten out of you to bring you back down to earth. Although, having a win here and there can be nice too!

Alex seriously

Growing up with 4 brothers fights were common

Believe it or not I was nerdy at school got beat up a lot took up martial arts when I started working at 15 after that never got into many fights and never lost one when I did

ON and off I did martial arts in one form or another until I had my arm broken by a younger opponent sparring when I was 40.

regretted every single fight I ever had or been in I nearly killed a guy once

sparring for exercise in a controlled situation is good fun fighting in anger is not.

Grasshopper

nothing is gained from fighting
