Hi Jen, :)
We have all been deprived of the purple so we wanted to leave this entire thread in purple. And that is only the prerogative of the Purple Lady. No one else can touch it.
Cheers Marty

Jen that is indeed a most wonderful book and if not Friday night all would say so... but they are out doing things and drinking beer maybe...
Now you have a guide to the opportunities of viewing all will be wonderful.
It is so nice to see you back on the forum and so nice to see you are gathering stuff that is neat to have....
I am still coming to grips with the fact you have a daughter so young and that you have such a wonderful passion about astronomy... you must be an inspiration to your friends as you seem so vivatious in spite of the problems close to you.
Each of the objects in your book deserve individual comptemplation so dont rush the experience... often we rush by stuff that we could spend a life time to appreciate.
Each of the objects are more than worlds ..more than we can really comptemplate so all the time you can allocate to looking at each will be less than human understanding will require.
Great book take all your life to read it.

Better clean those objects up, Jen. They're "messier" than all the others:P:P:D:D

You can get most of them with your scope, Jen!

I've managed most with binos (80mm). You will of course need to take a trip north to get some of them.

Jen, 8" will get all the Messiers under a dark sky, your 6" should get nearly all of them. Remember Charles Messier was using a smaller scope with poorer optics than yours!
You may have trouble with M74 and some of the lower ones to the north (M39 for example) but yoiu will be able to see dozens with no probs.
Make sure you get out while Sagittarius and Scorpius are still in the sky, there are heaps in that little area.
:thanx: Malcolm the only messier objects i can see these days are in my sons bedroom :lol:
