View Full Version here: : Jupiter thru 76mm newtonian, 3x barlow + nexImage cam 9 oct 2009
Hi Guys
My first successful attempt at Jupiter on a budget. I'm guessing the dark dot is a moon in transit which may or may not be the dot seen above the image near the equator tho I suspect it's another moon

Nice detailed image there James, all the best for more.
Thx guys. Don't see many pics from small scopes so was curious as to what kind of detail I could get. A 2x barlow should arrive in the next few weeks so I may try stacking it with the 3x and see what that gives me. And maybe a 2nd 3x later? Hope that pic encourages others with small scopes to see how far they can push it
Hi Guys
Forgot to mention it's a department store scope. Made that mistake for my first scope but learnt to collimate it after a couple of botched tries. I did try something a lil different a short while ago, i.e. imaging Rigel Kent without the barlow. Will try with barlow tomorrow when it's still high enuf
let's see if this gets the other image up. if it doesn't then i need help getting additional images up
guess I shoulda put that last one in the other section

Thx guys for the encouragement. I believe I will be able to coax a lil more from my setup shortly. As soon as I get the chance I'll give mars a go as well. Should be a few hrs after I finish work b4 I'll be able to get it in my sights. Assuming the whether will let me :P

Amazing what is capable the 76mm telescope of!
Interestingly enuf I'm gonna try a slight variation tonight assuming weather and Genius iLook 300 cam both behave. Went to try last night but a wire came off inside the cam it seems. Have resoldered it and made sure it wont do that again LOL. Lets see what a $20 cam is capable of. From memory this one is 3x more sensitive to light at less than a lux assuming I haven't reversed the specs, and caple of 1280x960 video around 10fps. So will be interesting as to what this does to capture quality. Can only try ;)
